Playing a main role during the Milan Design Week 2017, the so-called Millenial Pink is now a trend in the design world thanks to its versatility.
The “Millenial Pink”, also known as Scandi Pink, because of the great number of Scandinavian designers that use it, is the reference color nowadays. Its fame comes from the fact that in 2016 the Rose Quartz, a similar tone, was named color of the year by Pantone. Used in furniture and accesories as well as in interior design, we analyze this trendy color.
Milan Design Week
Dominating in the design world now, this trend comes from the fashion sector, where this color was already one of the most used. An example was the Milan Design Week of this year, where many designers used it for different applications.
The proposal of the French designer Marc Ange, “Le Refuge” stood out above the rest. His design is composed by a bed entirely millenial pink that matches with a leaf canopy of this same tone, forming a unique and innovative space.
Apart from this design, also highlighted the use of “millenial pink” in furniture. Thus, Note Design Studio chose this color for its bigger launch during the event: an island sofa for the Spanish firm Sancal. The Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc used this color as well, to give a contemporary accent to her cabinets designs for Scarlet Splendour.
Spaces in Millenial Pink
Recently, the Spanish designer Jaime Hayón has designed a space for the Art museum of Groninger (Holland) using pink tones.
Using this color, Hayón decorated the walls and details of the furniture, giving to the space an avant-garde and different look.
It is also possible to design with natural stone in this tone thanks to ATARÉS and the collection “Strings”. Presented in November of 2016 in New York, this collection has as main characteristic the interlacing effect with natural marble gradients, created on a pink background made of pink marble from Portugal. Perfect as wallcovering, this collection combines the characteristic black and white shades of ATARÉS with the color of the moment.
